For my local challenge I picked poverty as it cuts accross alot of the problems faced by many in my country. A few quick facts : 44 million people in total in Kenya with about 42 % living below the poverty line and the country has a general unemployment rate of 40%. This has inturn led to a myriad of problems such as crime,political unrest , environmental problems and health problems as most the majority live in slums where living conditions are horrible and their health at risk. This is the inspiration for the background photo used in the challenge as it is a reflection of just how the conditions are and the most affected are the women and children who have to live in such conditions. Th public, poiticians and as well foreign influence interms of donor funding and aid has also contributed greatly to the worsening of this problem.
